Unit Test THIS WEEK in Math

We are finishing our unit on addition and subtraction within 1000 and will be testing this week. In this unit, students use place value understanding to round whole numbers and add and subtract within 1000. They also represent and solve two-step word problems using addition, subtraction, and multiplication and assess the reasonableness of answers. Here is a family support guide for you to take a peek at to help your child at home. If you read and scroll to the end, you'll see a short "Try at home" section.

We realize that this week is going to be very busy with all the holiday festivities and the unit test. This tests is over content that we have been working on over the past weeks and should not require studying at home. However, we do share this information so you can check in with your child and do some preparation at home. Additionally, you can help at home by keeping your schedule and routines as consistent as possible as we wrap up this calendar year and head into winter break.

Nutcracker Notes:

The third grade performance of the Nutcracker is coming up quickly! Mrs. Richards has sent a note home with details for the evening performance.  The two performances are on Wednesday, December 18. The first performance is during the day at school as an assembly for the other students. Please make sure your student has their appropriate outfit on or with them for the school day. For the evening performance, please have your student arrive at the St. Joseph High School auditorium doors at 5:20 p.m. with their appropriate outfit on. We will have the rest of the costume backstage. Once you get to the high school, there will be signs to tell students and parents where to go. Once your student has found the place to go, you may wait by the auditorium doors until the previous school has finished, then find a seat. The Lincoln performance will begin at 5:45 p.mAll performances for every elementary school are on the same night so please do not come any earlier than 5:20 to ensure you are not interrupting another performance.  This performance is open to the public, so please invite anyone you’d like to come!
