Student Council
This week students will learn about student council and how it works at Lincoln School. Starting
in 3rd grade, students can be run for a student council position. Each classroom has two positions
available. Students that are elected will be apart of making decisions for special events at Lincoln,
but also are seen as our leaders in our school. Each teacher will discuss this and answer questions
this week for students. Students will need to decided by Friday, Sept.20th if they want to be apart of
Student Council by filling out a Google Form that will be on our class Google Classroom.
If your student signs up, they may create two posters. One to put in our classroom and one in the hallway, if they would like. Students will prepare a short speech (no more than 2 minutes) about why they want to be a part of the student council. They will have until Friday, September 27th to prepare their posters to present to their classroom and give their speech. We will be taking two representatives from each of classroom, one boy and one girl. Classes will vote on Friday, September 27th through a Google Form that will be on our Google classroom.
Snacks/Water Bottles
Just a reminder...please send a healthy snack for your child each day, as well as a water bottle that can be refilled throughout the day. Thank you!
Description of our First Reading Module
All of our elementary schools are piloting a new English Language Arts curriculum this year called EL Education. We will be starting the first module/units of this program this week. The first module uses literature and informational text to introduce students to the power of literacy and how people around the world overcome learning challenges. It is intentionally designed to encourage students to embrace a love of literacy and reading. We are excited to get started with this new program.
